KASTRA is a Bahasa (Indonesian language) acronym for American Study Circle. Most if not all of us are Indonesian graduate students currently or formerly studying in universities in the US.
We share similar concerns about Indonesia, her land and her people. KASTRA is a medium to gather together our concerns, thoughts and resources on efforts of betterment of Indonesia. More specifically, we want to translate (where applicable) what we learn in or out of school while we are in the US to help these efforts.
Circle denotes the informal yet serious aspect of this enterprise. Anybody can sit and learn from everybody in this circle. The circle can be in the forms of online discussions, teleconferences or regular meetings and seminars. The results will be published and blogged here.
We hope to learn today for Indonesia tomorrow.
